Parents and the Law Being a parent today means facing a host of legal issues. With young children, these issues can include educational rights, the right to install video surveillance of child care providers, or a parent's right to refuse a vaccination. Parents of teenagers and young adults face increasingly complex and high-stakes legal questions. For instance, Nassau County recently implemented the Social Host Law, which imposes criminal liability upon parents who permit alcohol to be served to minors in their home. Other legal concerns for parents of high school and college students include the true regulations governing learner's permits and junior driver's licenses, as well as parents' right to participate in the medical and educational decisions of their children as they grow older.
Never hesitate to contact us, no matter how simple the question may seem to you. The laws involving parents and children are constantly evolving, and the attorneys at Bondi & Iovino have lectured on these topics and are experienced at counseling parents. We always stand ready to help you and to answer your questions.Welcome! Bondi & Iovino is pleased to announce that Kelly Ann McMahon has joined our firm. She is active in all areas of the practice but particularly in litigation and real estate. Kelly is a 2005 graduate of St. John's University School of Law, where she served as Associate Notes and Comments Editor of the New York International Law Review, and as a research assistant to Professor Rosemary Salamone. Kelly received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, magna cum laude, from Boston College in 2002, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Prior to joining the firm, Kelly was an Associate with the Law Offices of Bryan M. Rothenberg, in-house counsel to American International Group, concentrating in personal injury protection litigation and arbitration. Prior to becoming an attorney, she worked and served in internship positions with a local law firm, the Mental Hygiene Legal Services for the Second Department and the Nassau County District Attorney. Kelly resides in Williston Park, New York.
We are also pleased to announce that Desiree Lovell Fusco added to the Bondi & Iovino family with the birth of her son, Luke Michael, on St. Patrick's Day. Luke joins his sister Michaela in providing great pride to Desiree and her husband, Michael.
